2025 Formula One World Championship
2025 Brazilian/São Paolo Grand Prix
Round 21
Interlagos Circuit
São Paulo, Brazil
Sunday, 9 November 2025
George Russell will be hoping to be crowned
Brazilian Grand Prix champion for the second time as he returns to the Interlagos Circuit.
Most recent race
The Mercedes driver missed out on a podium spot at the Mexico City Grand Prix on 26 October, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Russell started on the fourth grid, but he slipped up, which saw him finish seventh and he left North America with six points in the bag.
Formula One title ambitions
The 2017 GP3 Series champion remains fourth in the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 258 points.
Russell is now 63 points behind third-placed Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and 99 points behind leader Lando Norris of McLaren.
Why Russell could win the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix
The former Formula Renault 2.0 driver knows what it takes to win the Brazilian Grand Prix, having been crowned champion in Sao Paolo in 2022, beating Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton to the chequered flag.
Russell has won two races in the current season, in Canada and Singapore and he will be targeting his third victory in Brazil in order to keep up with the top three drivers.
What did he say?
“Four races to go. Just one point now separates ourselves and Ferrari, with Red Bull only nine further back,” Russell's colleague and Mercedes-AMG Petronas CEO and Team Principal Toto Wolff said ahead of the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix.
“We have had a couple of tough weekends, but we are still in the fight for P2. Each one of these four events is going to be vital in the battle for second in the Constructors' and, whilst our advantage over our rivals disappeared across Austin and Mexico, we can strike back in Brazil.
“The penultimate Sprint weekend of the year means we have to be at our very best from the off. Interlagos is an old-school circuit with a bumpy surface, elevation changes, and a wide range of corners. Add in unpredictable weather and there is little margin for error. No matter what the weekend throws at us our aim is to hit the ground running, execute better than our competitors, and get back in front of our nearest rivals.”
